Waterloo Bridge Closed After Major Crash

Waterloo Bridge has been closed in both directions following a major crash early this morning. Emergency services are on the scene of the collision which took place at around 4am today. The bridge has been closed in both directions from York Road, near to the IMAX Roundabout, to The Strand.

Details of the Crash

The crash appeared to involve a Land Rover Defender, with photos from the scene showing a mangled roof, crumpled and open bonnet, and a smashed windscreen. Recovery vehicles are working to remove the vehicle from the bridge.

Impact on Transport

London buses have been halted on the bridge, and fourteen bus routes have been affected by the crash. The affected routes are: 1, 59, 58, 76, 139, 171, 176, 188, 243, 341, N1, N68, N171 and the N343. Commuters are advised to seek alternative routes or use other modes of transport.
