Customers are experiencing issues with transferring money across several major banks on Monday afternoon, according to hundreds of reports on Down Detector.
Reports spike after midday
Down Detector, a website that tracks technical issues, showed reports rising sharply just after 12pm, with hundreds logged in the following hours. Barclays, Lloyds, Halifax, and HSBC were among the banks affected, with most reports citing funds transfer as the main problem. Some also reported issues with app and online banking.
Reports for app-based banks Revolut and Monzo also spiked around the same time, again citing funds transfer concerns.
Customer comments
On Down Detector's Lloyds page, users commented: "Unable to make payment" and "BEWARE: Messages say payments have failed but are actually going through!"
On X, customers shared similar experiences. One wrote: "Lloyds bank having issues sending and receiving payments yet again." Another said: "Payments sent to barclays accounts aren't arriving. Might wanna update that status page since it's been, you know, 3 hours now." A third posted: "@BarclaysUK made a transfer from another UK account to my Barclays account and the money is not showing? This is urgent"
Bank responses
A Lloyds employee responded to a customer: "We're sorry some outgoing payments may not show immediately in your transactions. Please check they've gone through before retrying to avoid paying twice."
Monzo shared a statement on X: "We're sorry for any trouble you're currently having with transfers. We're aware of an issue that is temporarily causing issues. We're currently working on a fix to get us back up and running, as soon as possible. Thanks for bearing with us in the meantime." This came after a customer wrote: "I have attempted to transfers from Barclays into Monzo and they haven’t come through"
A Barclays worker replied to a customer: "I'm sorry you've been impacted by this issue. We’re continuing to monitor and investigate so hopefully it's fixed soon."
