Arsenal have continued their rebuild of the squad by signing the Spain goalkeeper Misa Rodríguez on a free transfer. The 27-year-old arrives after spending the last six years at Real Madrid.
Arsenal's summer additions
The WSL side have already added Georgia Stanway (Bayern Munich), Selina Cerci (Hoffenheim), Ona Batlle (Barcelona) and Géraldine Reuteler (Eintracht Frankfurt) as they aim to challenge for the league title. Last season they finished second, four points behind the champions, Manchester City.
“I’m so proud to join this great club,” said Rodríguez. “Arsenal is one of the top clubs in the world and I’m really excited to be part of the team and take on this new challenge. I want to help us compete for trophies and make more history, together with our supporters.”
Rodríguez's career
Rodríguez has twice been awarded the Zamora Trophy for having the lowest goals-per-game ratio in the league and was made the Real Madrid captain in 2025.
Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in July 1999, Rodríguez developed at youth level with CD Femarguin before joining Atletico Madrid in 2017. A move to Deportivo La Coruña followed before the 2019-20 season, during which she established herself as one of Spain’s most promising young goalkeepers, helping Deportivo to a fourth-place finish in their first top-flight campaign.

The Arsenal head coach, Renée Slegers, added: “Misa is a top goalkeeper who has performed consistently at a high level for several years. As well as her technical attributes, she has great presence and communication on the pitch and we believe she’ll be a strong addition to our goalkeeping unit, alongside Daphne [van Domselaar], Anneke [Borbe] and Isabella [Damm].”
