Prince William and Princess Catherine will not attend Taylor Swift's wedding to Travis Kelce, an insider has confirmed. The revelation comes weeks after William playfully hinted at a possible invitation during an appearance on Heart FM's Breakfast show.
Royal Couple Declines Invitation
The insider disclosed that the Prince and Princess of Wales will not be present at the star-studded ceremony, which is reportedly taking place this week in New York City. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, both 36, are set to tie the knot, with the wedding thought to be a high-profile event.
William had previously met Swift on several occasions, and Princess Charlotte is known to be "obsessed" with the singer and her music. The 44-year-old royal attended the first night of Swift's Eras Tour London shows in June 2024, alongside Princess Charlotte and Prince George.
William's Playful Hint
During an interview with Heart FM's presenter Amanda Holden, William was asked if he would attend the wedding. He replied, "No comment," prompting laughter in the studio. He added, "I'm hoping, and I'm sure there might be an invitation around, but we'll see."
William first met Swift in 2013 at the Centrepoint Winter Whites Gala at Kensington Palace. The pair famously joined Jon Bon Jovi onstage for an impromptu rendition of "Livin' on a Prayer."
Backstage Selfie Goes Viral
After the London show in 2024, Swift shared a backstage selfie with William, George, and Charlotte on Instagram, alongside a photo of Kelce posing with the royals. The caption read: "Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start." Swift also tagged William and Catherine's handle with Union Jack flags, American flags, and handshake emojis.
Despite the playful exchange and prior interactions, the insider's confirmation indicates that the royal couple will not be part of the wedding festivities.
