Family-Run UK Haulage Company Boyd Haulage Ltd Enters Liquidation
UK Haulage Firm Boyd Haulage Ltd Enters Liquidation

Boyd Haulage Ltd, a family-run freight company based in Londonderry, has entered liquidation, marking another significant setback for the UK haulage sector in 2026. The company appointed liquidators on June 25, with the Belfast Gazette confirming the insolvency filing on July 3. Michael Drumm and Ciara Maguire, both of Cooper Parry Advisory Limited, have been appointed as joint liquidators.

Company Background and Services

Established in 2005, Boyd Haulage offered over a decade of reliable service, specializing in livestock haulage, fallen stock collection, and general haulage. The company emphasized animal welfare, stating that its vehicles and trailers were designed to uphold high standards of comfort and safety for livestock. Additionally, Boyd was licensed and insured for the collection of fallen animals and equipped to transport aggregates, waste, and recyclables.

Impact on Jobs and Industry

At this early stage, no details have been released regarding potential job losses. The closure adds to a growing list of haulage firms collapsing in 2026. The Road Haulage Association (RHA) had previously warned that insolvencies were expected to rise, citing rising costs as a major factor. According to RHA data, nearly 400 hauliers went out of business last year, 470 the year before, and over 500 in 2023.
