Trossard's Agent Confirms Productive Talks with Besiktas

Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard is continuing to assess his options as Besiktas look to lure him away from north London, his agent has revealed. The 31-year-old Belgian played a prominent role as Arsenal won the Premier League last season, making 50 appearances across all competitions, but he may not return to help defend the title.

Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas quickly emerged as a likely destination, with reports suggesting they have pulled out all the stops to tempt Trossard to Istanbul. Reports indicate the club sent a delegation to Belgium’s World Cup camp to hold talks over contract terms. According to Fabrizio Romano, the offer on the table constitutes a three-year deal with an option for a one-year extension.

No Decision Yet: Staying at Arsenal Remains an Option

Besiktas are now simply waiting on Trossard’s final decision, but his head has not yet been turned. Speaking in an interview with Sky Germany, Dirk Hebel, one of Trossard’s representatives, confirmed he is continuing to mull over his options for next season, making clear he could still remain at Arsenal. “I can confirm that Besiktas did everything they could to sign Leandro Trossard,” Hebel said. “However, no decision has been made yet. Leandro has all the offers on the table and will make his decision soon. He is a world-class player with several options, including staying at Arsenal.”

Further reporting in The Athletic adds that Trossard is close to agreeing terms with Besiktas, but the player himself has not yet given the green light.

Arsenal's Left Flank Under Scrutiny

Arsenal’s left flank was something of a weak point last season, with neither Trossard nor Gabriel Martinelli quite producing the desired output. Mikel Arteta has also made clear he wants to bolster his attacking options in the summer transfer window. Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis has been tipped as a potential reinforcement off the left, as has Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola. It is thought, though, that the Champions League winners would not be keen to sell to one of their primary continental rivals.

Trossard enjoyed an impressive World Cup campaign, scoring two goals and assisting three as Belgium were knocked out in the round of 16. His performances have kept him on the radar of several clubs, but a final decision is expected soon.
