England defender Trevoh Chalobah has been told he can leave Chelsea this summer, with Italian side Como making an official bid for the 26-year-old. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Como, managed by Cesc Fabregas, have submitted an offer for the centre-back, who is currently with the England squad at the World Cup.
Chalobah's Chelsea Career and England Call-Up
Chalobah was a regular for Chelsea last season under Enzo Maresca and then Liam Rosenior, making 47 appearances in all competitions and scoring three Premier League goals. He received a late call-up to the England squad for the World Cup after Tino Livramento suffered an injury in training. Although he may not feature unless further injuries occur, the selection shows he is highly regarded by Three Lions manager Thomas Tuchel, who again left Manchester United's Harry Maguire at home.
Interest from Serie A Clubs
Serie A champions Inter Milan are also considering a move for Chalobah, who looks likely to be playing Champions League football next season. Como qualified for the Champions League under Fabregas, while Inter will compete in Europe's top table after winning the domestic title. Chelsea have no European competition next season after a disappointing campaign that saw them finish 10th before appointing Xabi Alonso.
Contract and Transfer Details
The value of Como's bid is not clear, nor is Chelsea's valuation of Chalobah. The England international remains under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2028, with the club holding an option to extend that deal by a further year. Chelsea's willingness to let Chalobah leave comes as they pursue a new centre-back signing, with Crystal Palace's Maxence Lacroix and Como's Jacobo Ramon on their shopping list.
Other Chelsea Transfer Activity
There will likely be plenty of deals done at Stamford Bridge this summer. Marco Palestra is on his way from Atalanta after a £51m move was agreed. The Blues also want a new left-back after Marc Cucurella's departure to Real Madrid, with Gabriel Gudmundsson from Leeds on their radar.
