The Ivy launches Newcastle recruitment with staff perks ahead of 2026 opening
The Ivy launches Newcastle recruitment with staff perks

Luxury restaurant chain The Ivy has launched a recruitment drive for its planned Newcastle opening, with job adverts suggesting the launch could be imminent. The company is seeking a general manager, assistant general manager, two senior sous chefs, and a head chef for the venue at 102 Grey Street, the former Lloyds Bank building.

The Grade II*-listed building, dating back to 1839, has a double-height banking hall on the ground floor with offices arranged around a central atrium. Planning consultancy Naylors has been appointed to provide project management and contract administration services for the refurbishment of the 31,000sqft building, which has always been used as a bank until now, originally occupied by Northumberland & District Bank.

Opening timeline and details

While an opening date has yet to be confirmed by the company, recruitment adverts reveal it will be open by the end of 2026, potentially meaning a pre-Christmas opening. The restaurant plans to operate from 8am to 1.30am, Monday to Sunday. Licence plans previously revealed that the building will house both The Ivy and The Ivy Asia.

Earlier this month, fresh documents were submitted to Newcastle City Council including fine details on planned opening times. The Ivy currently has 47 cafes and brasseries around the UK, with locations in London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester, York, Harrogate, and Leeds.

Staff perks and benefits

Alongside details of competitive pay and annual bonuses, the job adverts highlight a number of perks, including 100% staff discount for staff members and up to three friends when they dine in Ivy restaurants, as well as access to discounts on hundreds of retailers, health, entertainment, and travel.

The company's website said: "We are delighted to be opening The Ivy Newcastle later this year. Welcome to The Ivy Collection, we embody timeless elegance and vibrant hospitality in every guest experience. Our iconic restaurants, situated across the UK and beyond, are celebrated for exceptional food, outstanding service, and the creation of unforgettable moments."
