Marcus Rashford Faces Fresh Blow as Bayern Munich Block Exit Route
Rashford Blow as Bayern Block Man United Exit Route

Marcus Rashford faces an uncertain future at Manchester United after Bayern Munich reportedly agreed a deal for Ismael Saibari, seemingly ending the forward's hopes of a move to the German champions.

Bayern Munich Shift Focus to Saibari

The Manchester United forward finds himself at a critical juncture at Old Trafford following Barcelona's decision not to activate the £26 million buyout clause. The 28-year-old, who is currently away with England at the World Cup, regained his finest form in La Liga with the Spanish giants, scoring 14 goals in 49 outings across all competitions while providing 14 assists.

Following Barcelona's decision to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, Bayern Munich were mentioned as potential suitors for Rashford. Vincent Kompany's outfit were reported to have contacted officials at Old Trafford regarding the possibility of bringing in Rashford. However, their focus has now shifted to PSV Eindhoven's Saibari.

The Morocco international has emerged as a star at the World Cup in North America after finding the net against Brazil during their opening group match, and reports indicate Bayern have secured his signature - leaving Rashford's next move uncertain once again.

Consequently, PSV will pocket a club-record fee after a €55 million (£47 million) agreement was reached between the two clubs for the forward, who is three years younger than Rashford.

Rashford's Future Options

For the United academy product, there have been mixed reports regarding his future and his personal ambitions. Spanish publication Marca has reported that Rashford is determined to stay in Catalonia and rejoin Barcelona next season, despite Hansi Flick's side opting against making his move permanent.

Rashford is said to have received assurances from the German manager that another transfer can be orchestrated. The report adds that the United forward believes a second stint with the club remains achievable whether on a permanent or on a loan deal.

Currently, he has just over two years left on his Old Trafford contract which is set to run until 2028. Reports elsewhere have indicated that the 28-year-old has considered the prospect of returning to the United first-team following an absence of almost 18 months.

Rashford lost his place under Ruben Amorim which eventually resulted in him leaving for Aston Villa on a short-term loan during the 2024/25 season. He found himself seeking a new club in the summer where he opted for a switch to Barcelona. However, with Amorim dismissed by the club in January and Michael Carrick being appointed as his permanent replacement, a fresh chapter could begin for the forward's time at Old Trafford.

It has been suggested that the England international has contacted some of his teammates regarding a return and is said to have received encouraging responses from members of the squad.
