The RAD Hotel Group has taken ownership of Lochgreen House Hotel & Spa in Troon, adding the five-star venue to its portfolio of ten properties across Scotland. The acquisition, completed on 1 July 2026, sees the family-run group take over from Bill and Cath Costley, who have retired after building the hotel into one of Scotland's most prestigious hospitality destinations.
Aaron Kyle, Director at RAD Hotel Group, said: "As one Ayrshire family-owned business succeeds another, we are incredibly proud to welcome Lochgreen House Hotel into the RAD Hotel Group collection. More than two years in the making, this marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for one of Scotland's most treasured hospitality destinations."
A Legacy of Excellence
Lochgreen House Hotel & Spa has earned an international reputation for its luxury spa, award-winning weddings, and accommodation, drawing visitors to Ayrshire's world-famous golfing coastline, including nearby Royal Troon. The property was originally built as a private mansion in the early 19th century and has retained its period character and architectural elegance.
Kyle added: "Bill Costley has created something truly special at Lochgreen and, as he steps into a well-deserved retirement, our priority is to protect and build upon the remarkable legacy he leaves behind. The trust he has placed in RAD Hotel Group means a great deal to us, and we are committed to preserving everything that has made Lochgreen one of Scotland's most respected hotels."
Continuity and Investment
The RAD Hotel Group has pledged to honour the legacy of both the hotel and Bill Costley's contribution to Ayrshire hospitality. Plans include preserving many of the property's historic features in future interior design and guest spaces. The group confirmed that all existing bookings, deposits, and Lochgreen gift vouchers will be honoured, and all hotel staff have been retained to ensure continuity of service.
Customers holding Costley Hotel Group gift vouchers can redeem them at the Costley group's remaining properties. The RAD Hotel Group's portfolio also includes Seamill Hydro, Brig o' Doon House Hotel, and Lochside Hotel.
Looking Ahead
Kyle said: "We are excited to write the next chapter in Lochgreen's story, welcoming visitors from around the world while continuing to be a place where local families and generations of guests come together to celebrate life's most memorable moments. Our ambition is simple: to ensure Lochgreen continues to thrive for generations to come."
The group has developed a reputation for investing in and enhancing historic hospitality venues across Scotland, combining heritage preservation with modern guest and wedding experiences.
