PSG's Shift in Stance
According to reports from The Athletic, PSG initially ruled out any sale of Barcola. However, the club is now willing to consider offers in excess of the £116 million Manchester City paid for Elliot Anderson. The change in stance follows Barcola's reluctance to sign a new contract, as he seeks more playing time next season.
Arsenal have reportedly received encouragement that a deal could be possible, according to BBC Sport. The Gunners are said to have scouted Barcola during France's 3-0 win over Sweden, in which the winger scored Les Bleus' second goal.
Barcola's Situation at PSG
Barcola is pushing to leave PSG, partly due to the club's pursuit of Yan Diomande, who is expected to cost around €100 million. The 22-year-old has found himself competing with Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue for a starting spot, and he is eager to take on a more prominent role.
Former Chelsea star Florent Malouda believes Barcola is ready for the Premier League. "When you look at Bradley Barcola's story, first of all, he's coming from the Lyon Academy," Malouda told Boyle Sports. "He made the right choices. When he left, it was not easy for him. He left and he won two Champions Leagues in the best team in French football history."
Malouda added: "Choosing his next destination is about whether he is ready to take a leadership role, because that's what will be expected from him. You just won the Champions League, any club buying you will expect you to lead them to winning these kinds of trophies. This is where he will be challenged. He could fit in any Premier League team. He's a very talented young player."
Arsenal and Liverpool Interest
Arsenal are looking to sign a left winger this summer, with Morgan Rogers and Christos Tzolis also high on Mikel Arteta's wishlist. Liverpool are also plotting a move for Barcola, according to reports. The Gunners are said to have made Barcola a key target, and their scouting mission at the World Cup has only intensified their interest.
