Jaouen touched down on Monday afternoon and went through the usual formalities of his transfer from Reims last night. After completing his medical, the 20-year-old posed in club colours and looked forward to a four-year deal on Tyneside, with Eddie Howe pleased with the capture of the 6ft 6in stopper.

Close sources to United made it clear that staff were 'busy' attempting to seal both on-field acquisitions and commercial deals that will set Newcastle up for the next financial year. One name that has been put to Newcastle by the player's father is soon to be out of contract Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic.
