Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Closes in Birmingham

The Cube Hotel and Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill in Birmingham city centre have closed with immediate effect after 15 years of operation. A notice displayed outside the venue confirmed the sudden closure, stating that both businesses have ceased trading and will not reopen.

The notice read: "We regret to inform you that, with immediate effect, The Cube Hotel and Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill Birmingham have ceased trading and are now closed. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause." It added that the affairs of MSHA Global Investments Limited, trading as The Cube Hotel, are managed by joint administrators who act as agents of the company.

Rooftop Restaurant and Hotel Shut Down

The steakhouse, operating under a licensing deal with celebrity chef Marco Pierre White, was known for its 360-degree panoramic views of Birmingham from the 25th floor. It was a fixture at The Cube in the Mailbox district, alongside the 52-bedroom hotel. Earlier this year, Knight Frank was appointed to sell the hotel and franchised restaurant on behalf of joint administrators Richard Easterby and Nick Simmonds of Quantuma Advisory Ltd, according to Insider Media. A source told BirminghamLive that staff at the Bar and Grill were informed about the sudden closure this week.

Hospitality Industry Struggles

The closure comes amid wider challenges in the UK hospitality sector. The same week, two popular London restaurants announced closures, leaving many customers "gutted." Morito, a tapas restaurant on Hackney Road, closed on June 14 after eight years, with owners Sam and Sam Clark citing "significant challenges" facing the industry. The Hackney location has shut, but their Moro restaurant and Morito site in Exmouth Market remain open. Additionally, The Water House Project, a Michelin-listed fine dining restaurant in Bethnal Green, East London, will close at the end of June after owners decided not to renew the lease.
