Manchester United are reportedly ready to reject any loan offers from Barcelona for Marcus Rashford this summer. The club has made its position clear regarding the England international's future as the summer transfer window progresses.
Rashford's Loan Spell at Barcelona
Rashford spent the previous campaign on loan at Barcelona, where he scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions. The 28-year-old expressed his desire to join Barcelona permanently, but the Spanish club did not activate the £26 million purchase option in the initial loan agreement, which expired earlier this week.
Manchester United's Stance
According to a report from ESPN, United are unwilling to allow Rashford to move to Barcelona on another loan deal. Instead, the club is concentrating on securing a permanent transfer this summer. The report suggests that United have invited agents to contact the club with realistic possibilities for a permanent move.
Rashford is currently with the England squad for this summer's World Cup in North America. He came off the bench to score England's fourth goal in their 4-2 victory over Croatia on Wednesday evening, making an immediate impact after being left out of the starting lineup by manager Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel Praises Rashford
Tuchel praised Rashford's performance against Croatia and highlighted the forward's impressive attitude in training. "He struggled for us to be decisive when he started, but he was always trying and got a bit unlucky for a long time," Tuchel said. "We just had a talk where I told him that I'm very, very impressed with his last 16 days – how he was in camp, how he pushes on the field."
Tuchel added: "He is totally invested in every meeting. He is very, very fast in translating a meeting onto the pitch, what we want tactically. He pushes on a very respectful level with Anthony Gordon on the position, so at the moment he's in a very good place. I was so happy that he was the one to unlock this long spell."
United will be hoping that Rashford's strong form continues as they seek a permanent solution for his future this summer.
