Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a potential move for long-term transfer target Carlos Baleba. The Red Devils have already signed two midfielders this summer, with Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans joining the club earlier this month. However, they are still chasing the addition of a third player to replace Casemiro following his exit at the end of last season.
United consider Baleba as Tchouameni alternative
United have been linked with a possible swoop for Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni, with reports claiming the Spanish giants are willing to sell him this summer. However, he isn't the only player under consideration at Old Trafford. They are also considering a move for Baleba, who has been strongly linked with a transfer over the last few seasons.
Talks have already been explored for the Brighton ace, according to Sky Sports, although official club-to-club contact is yet to be made. United were pushing to sign Baleba last summer, but they were unable to get a deal over the line due to Brighton's nine-figure asking price.
Personal terms agreed
Personal terms have already been agreed for the 22-year-old, which suggests things could move swiftly if they can finalise a transfer fee with Brighton. It remains to be seen if the Seagulls will lower their demands, given that Baleba struggled at times last season. Nevertheless, he is believed to remain a target for United.
The report adds that Manu Kone is still a player of interest to the Red Devils, who have tentatively explored the conditions of a deal. Despite the midfielder emerging as a target for a number of European clubs, United are thought to be leading the race for his signature. However, any suggestions that a move is imminent are said to be premature.
Other midfield targets
Alex Scott has also been mooted as a potential signing, but it's been reported that Bournemouth are unwilling to sell him, even after he turned down a new contract at the Vitality Stadium. Tyler Adams, another Bournemouth player, is also understood to feature on United's midfield shortlist.
They are in no rush to commit to a third midfield signing just yet, with club chiefs taking their time to review all options and determine the best option to pursue. United are also looking to improve other areas of the squad before the new Premier League campaign gets underway next month.
