Man City Transfer News: Anderson, Tonali, Midfield Plans

Manchester City are leading the race to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest this summer, but the club's midfield plans extend beyond the England international. With potential departures on the horizon, City are also monitoring Newcastle's Sandro Tonali as they prepare for a possible midfield overhaul.

Elliot Anderson: Top Target

Anderson has been identified as a long-term midfield option and is City's primary target. Talks are ongoing with Nottingham Forest over a fee that could exceed £100 million. The 24-year-old is currently at the World Cup with England, but manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed players can complete transfers while on international duty, provided they do not disrupt match preparations.

Tuchel stated: "It's about common sense. I would not like transfers the day before a match or on matchday. But if it's done privately, efficiently, and quietly, we are always happy to help. It helps to have clarity around any player."

Sandro Tonali Also on Radar

City's interest is not limited to Anderson. Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali has impressed in the Premier League and is a potential target. Crucially, any move for Tonali is not contingent on Anderson's arrival, meaning City could sign both midfielders.

Uncertainty Over Current Squad

The futures of Rodri, Nico Gonzalez, Mateo Kovacic, and Tijjani Reijnders remain uncertain. City have contingency plans to bring in reinforcements if needed. With several questions looming this summer, the club is hosting weekly Q&A sessions with chief City writer Simon Bajkowski, where fans can submit queries and receive expert analysis.
