The 24-year-old Monaco winger, who has impressed in Ligue 1 and earned a spot in France's World Cup squad, is reportedly keen on a move to PSG, with negotiations advancing for a £60million transfer.
This development comes after Liverpool's top target, Yan Diomande, also appeared to favor PSG, leaving the Reds searching for a top-quality wide player following Mohamed Salah's exit. Akliouche's versatility across both flanks and in attacking midfield had made him a potential successor to Salah, but PSG look set to beat Liverpool to another promising talent.
Iraola Warned to Unlock Wirtz's Potential
Former Liverpool midfielder Vladimir Smicer has urged new head coach Andoni Iraola to find the best position for Florian Wirtz, who joined the club for up to £116m last summer. Wirtz managed seven goals and eight assists in a testing first season under Arne Slot, and Smicer believes the team must be built around the 23-year-old German international.
“If you spend that kind of money on Florian Wirtz, you must play him in his best position,” Smicer told Casinostugan. “At Leverkusen, the team was built for him. In Liverpool, we were trying to find his best position all season. If you play him as a winger, he will never give you as much.”
Smicer emphasized that Wirtz should be deployed centrally, behind the striker, to maximize his impact. He added, “I hope Andoni Iraola will find his position.”
