Liverpool's summer transfer window remains in flux as the club pursues multiple targets, with Bradley Barcola emerging as a key option after Yan Diomande's apparent preference for Paris Saint-Germain. Ayyoub Bouaddi also attracts interest from Manchester City, while Diomande himself has publicly stated his expectation to leave RB Leipzig.
Barcola Urged to Join Premier League
Former Chelsea star Florent Malouda has urged PSG winger Bradley Barcola to make a Premier League switch, calling him "primed and ready" for English football. Speaking to BOYLE Sports, Malouda said: "When you look at Bradley Barcola's story, first of all, he's coming from the Lyon Academy. He made the right choices. He left and he won two Champions Leagues in the best team in French football history."
Malouda added: "Choosing his next destination is about whether he is ready to take a leadership role, because that's what will be expected from him. You just won the Champions League, any club buying you will expect you to lead them to winning these kinds of trophies. This is where he will be challenged. He could fit in any Premier League team."
According to talkSPORT, Barcola is pushing for an exit from PSG, with Liverpool and Arsenal both interested. However, The Athletic reports that PSG consider Barcola not for sale and value him at more than the £116 million Manchester City paid for Elliot Anderson. Emile Heskey has also urged Liverpool to sign Barcola, saying: "I think one of those two (Diomande and Barcola) would take us back to that level. If I had to choose one, it would be Barcola."
Bouaddi Battle Heats Up
Liverpool face competition from Manchester City for Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, according to BBC Sport. The 18-year-old Morocco international, who has impressed at the World Cup, is valued by Lille at between £69 million and £86 million. Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG are also monitoring the player.
Bouaddi's potential move could be complicated by his club's high valuation, but Liverpool remain interested as they look to bolster their midfield options under new head coach Andoni Iraola.
Diomande Insists on Leaving Leipzig
Yan Diomande has hit back at claims he will stay at RB Leipzig, insisting he expects to leave Germany this summer. Speaking ahead of Ivory Coast's World Cup last-32 tie against Norway, the 19-year-old winger said: "I don't have Instagram anymore, I don't have TikTok, so I can't see anything but I expect to leave of course. I have an agent who's going to manage the rest, but for me the most important thing right now is focusing on the World Cup."
This contradicts RB Leipzig managing director Marcel Schafer, who earlier stated: "Our clear intention is: Yan Diomande will play for RB Leipzig next year. In principle, we still have a four-year contract and hold all the cards." Reports suggest PSG have emerged as Diomande's preferred destination, leaving Liverpool to explore alternatives.
Alternative Targets Emerge
With Diomande seemingly off the table, Liverpool have been linked with several wide players. According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Reds are monitoring Benfica's Andreas Schjelderup, a 22-year-old Norway international who could cost more than double the £12 million Benfica paid for him. Koln's Said El Mala, Brighton's Yankuba Minteh, and Lille's Matias Fernandez-Pardo are also on the list.
However, Koln have denied receiving any offer for El Mala, with the club telling German outlet Express they know nothing about a potential move to Liverpool or Newcastle. The 19-year-old German provided 13 goals and five assists in the Bundesliga last season.
Curtis Jones and Other Departures
Inter Milan have confirmed they are unlikely to sign Curtis Jones due to Liverpool's high asking price. Inter director Piero Ausilio said: "I've never denied that we like Curtis Jones. He has the qualities that could give us something extra. But there's a significant gap between our valuation and Liverpool's. As things stand, I'd say it's very difficult."
Nottingham Forest are now considering a move for the midfielder, according to the Daily Mail, after selling Elliot Anderson to Manchester City. Meanwhile, June 30 marked the departure of 12 Liverpool players whose contracts expired, including Ibrahima Konate, who officially ended his Reds career.
World Cup Fallout and Klopp's Future
Liverpool quartet Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, and Florian Wirtz all exited the World Cup early, which could benefit Iraola's preseason preparations. Van Dijk has been tipped to retire from international football by former Netherlands star Ronald de Boer, who told talkSPORT: "I think we're going to hear that soon and I think also Van Dijk, he had the captain's armband and he was an amazing captain, I think he will say probably that, 'This is my last game.'"
Florian Wirtz faced criticism from Alan Shearer for his performances at the World Cup. Speaking on The Rest is Football, Shearer said: "Wirtz has had a terrible season at Liverpool, he hasn't performed again at this World Cup."
Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been urged to take over as Germany head coach after Julian Nagelsmann's side lost to Paraguay on penalties. Klopp remained evasive, saying: "I haven't thought about that yet. I understand that my name is being mentioned now. But it's not the time to talk about that."
