Liverpool are readying an opening offer of around £110m for PSG and France forward Bradley Barcola, who is open to a move to Anfield. However, PSG are holding firm on their asking price, reportedly around £145m, having used Morgan Rogers' £117m transfer to Chelsea as a benchmark.
Barcola keen on Premier League switch
According to The Telegraph, Barcola is unwilling to sign a new contract at the Parc des Princes, with his current deal expiring in 2028. He is now prepared for the next stage of his career in the Premier League. Liverpool officials have already held talks with the winger's representatives, and the response has been favourable.
Liverpool are targeting Barcola as an ideal replacement for Mohamed Salah following his exit. The Reds have also considered other options such as Yan Diomande, who appears set for Real Madrid, and Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams, but Barcola is now the firm favourite for a switch to Merseyside.
A high price tag
Liverpool's opening offer of about £110m falls short of PSG's valuation. It remains to be seen whether Anfield chiefs would be willing to break the British transfer record to secure his signature. Should talks progress positively, Barcola would be offered at least a five-year deal.
Barcola joined PSG from Lyon in 2023. Since then, he has scored 39 goals in 152 appearances, 13 of which came last season. He is also a 28-time French international, with six goals for his country.
Summer additions
If the transfer is completed, Barcola would become Liverpool's third signing of the summer window. Jeremy Jacquet agreed a move from Rennes in January, while Victor Munoz was recruited from Osasuna earlier in the summer.
Asked last week about his target number of signings, boss Andoni Iraola said: "No, I think it's difficult to say a number when the market is open, and you have to be always open to new options to improve the squad. There are obvious situations that we know where we need to sign players. A winger, for example – we definitely need to sign a winger. But there are other situations that we will have to analyse what the market gives you, what's the cost, how we also see the players we have. We have some tricky positions where we have injured players that we trust but is still not the ideal situation. So, it will depend on a lot of things."
