Liverpool Defender Pinnington Joins West Brom as 13th Exit

Liverpool have confirmed that defender Carter Pinnington has completed a permanent transfer to West Bromwich Albion, becoming the 13th player to depart the club this summer.

Academy Graduate Moves On

The 19-year-old centre-back, originally from Bebington on the Wirral, has been with Liverpool since under-7 level. He progressed through the Academy system in Kirkby and represented Liverpool U21s, making 19 Premier League 2 appearances last season.

Pinnington's only senior involvement came when he was named on the bench for Liverpool's Carabao Cup fourth-round match against Crystal Palace on October 29, 2025, which the Reds lost 3-0 at Anfield.

He also earned 10 youth international caps for England across the U15, U16 and U18 age groups.

Player's Reaction

After signing a three-year deal with the Baggies, Pinnington told West Brom's official website: "I'm extremely grateful to be joining Albion. I had offers from other clubs, but from the very first conversations I had here, it was clear to me that this was the right place for the next stage of my career and an opportunity I couldn't turn down."

He added: "I'm looking forward to getting started, working hard every day, and giving my all every time I put the shirt on."

Summer Exodus

Pinnington is the 13th player to leave Liverpool this summer. Senior departures include Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Ibrahima Konate and Rhys Williams. Academy players Kareem Ahmed, Emmanuel Airoboma, James Balagizi, DJ Bernard, Oakley Cannonier, Josh Davidson, Terence Miles and Jacob Poytress have also moved on.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have made academy contract offers to Prince Cisse, Keyrol Figueroa, Kyle Kelly, Afolami Onanuga, Oliver O'Connor, Lucas Pitt, Ben Trueman and Matthew Wright.
