Everton have been linked with a move for West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen, but a Premier League title winner believes the Blues face a tough task securing his signature. Colin Hendry, who won the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers in 1995, told the ECHO that while Bowen is a top player, he does not see him moving to Goodison Park even with David Moyes at the helm.
Moyes Reunion on the Cards?
According to journalist Alan Nixon via his Patreon, Moyes is ready to push a £20 million bid to reunite with Bowen at Hill Dickinson Stadium. West Ham's relegation to the Championship has made a deal possible, with the England international being Moyes' first-choice target. However, the Athletic reports that Aston Villa have expressed strong interest in the 29-year-old, though no club-to-club discussions have taken place yet.
Competition from Aston Villa
Unai Emery is a huge admirer of Bowen, but Villa view an agreement as difficult without player sales. Industry sources suggest talks for Bowen would start at £50 million, while West Ham sources indicate they are not looking to sell. Bowen has four years left on his contract and has not decided whether to leave.
Hendry's Verdict
Colin Hendry, speaking via BestBettingSites, said: "I don't see Jarrod going to Everton, even with David Moyes there, but I wouldn't be surprised if he left West Ham. He's a top player, and I can understand the interest from different quarters. It's going to be an interesting one how that unfolds, especially with Moyes involved. But I don't think he'll remain at West Ham."
Hendry, who has close friends who are West Ham fans, including Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris, noted that Bowen might have been in the England squad had West Ham avoided relegation. The situation remains fluid, with multiple clubs circling the talented forward.
