Iraola Key in Liverpool's £34.5m Munoz Transfer

Andoni Iraola has played a key role in Liverpool securing a £34.5 million deal to sign Victor Munoz from Osasuna this summer. The new Liverpool head coach was instrumental in beating Newcastle United and other top clubs to the Spanish forward's signature.

Liverpool Agree Deal for Munoz

On Wednesday, it emerged that Liverpool had reached an agreement worth £34.5 million to trigger the release clause in Munoz's contract with the La Liga side. The 22-year-old forward had attracted interest from Bayer Leverkusen, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Newcastle, but Liverpool won the race to bring him to Anfield.

Munoz is expected to sign a six-year contract and underwent a medical on Wednesday while on international duty with Spain at the World Cup. Once finalized, he will become Iraola's first signing as Liverpool manager.

Iraola's Influence

According to reports, Liverpool had monitored Munoz for some time but intensified their pursuit after Iraola's appointment. The new manager's extensive knowledge of the player and the La Liga market was a key factor in greenlighting the transfer.

Munoz may not be Liverpool's only forward addition this summer. The club continues to pursue RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande, though Leipzig values the 19-year-old at around €100 million (£86.5 million) and is reluctant to sell.

Liverpool will watch Munoz's performances at the World Cup closely, where he aims to add to his two international caps. He remained on the bench in Spain's goalless draw with Cape Verde but hopes to feature against Saudi Arabia and Uruguay.
