Arsenal have fielded enquiries from Everton and Ipswich for Gabriel Jesus as the Brazilian eyes a Premier League stay. The former Manchester City star is among those linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium before September’s transfer deadline.
Jesus, 29, had been eyed by Italian giants Napoli, albeit negotiations between him and the Serie A side stalled. But it appears that an exit could remain on the cards for the forward, with interest in him from the Premier League.
Interest from Premier League Sides
According to Spanish outlet AS, both Everton and Ipswich have contacted Arsenal over a deal. A move to either could suit the forward, who has a desire to remain in England and become the highest-scoring Brazilian in the Premier League.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta spoke out on his future, as well as that of Gabriel Martinelli - both players left out of the Gunners’ squad in the Community Shield win over Manchester City.
Arteta's Comments on Squad Depth
Arteta said: "Yes, they are all very important for us." He added: "It's really sad not to have their ability. I have been fighting with the Premier League to extend [the squad], to accommodate more players.
"It's always tough. They deserve to be in the squad, there is no question. Ethan [Nwaneri], as well. Marli [Salmon], as well, has had a hot preseason with us."
"Hopefully we can change that rule, and players can be an option to play, and contribute to the team as much as possible."
Jesus' Arsenal Record and Contract Situation
Jesus joined Arsenal in a £45m switch from Manchester City in 2022 but has scored just 32 goals in 123 appearances. He has just one year remaining on his deal in North London.
Jesus is not the only one to have been linked with an exit over recent days. Academy graduates Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri have also been tipped for departures.
Academy Graduates and Incomings
On the pair, Arsenal CEO Richard Garlick said: "There's been a lot of speculation around players. I can't stop other clubs being interested. I think Myles has had a fantastic end to last season and has started this one really well - we're very, very happy with him.
"Ethan has had a great pre-season as well and I think it's just a case of looking at what opportunities there are that will help both of those in terms of their career moving forward. We are not actively looking at selling those homegrown players but if the right opportunity came up - right for them and the club - we'd obviously consider that."
When it comes to incomings, Arsenal have already signed Bruno Guimaraes and Christos Tzolis, while Piero Hincapie and Illan Meslier have penned permanent deals. Arteta’s side are also close to agreeing a deal for Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa. A late swoop for Julian Alvarez also remains a possibility.
