Julie Meyer, a former star of the BBC show Dragons' Den, has had her MBE revoked after being found in contempt of court. The Cabinet Office confirmed the forfeiture, listing Meyer among individuals who have lost honours since August 2023 for bringing the system into disrepute.
The 58-year-old businesswoman received a six-month suspended prison sentence for repeatedly failing to submit documents and attend hearings related to £200,000 in unpaid legal fees. The case involved law firm Farrers & Co, which had represented her in a Malta court case.
Meyer was awarded the MBE in 2011 for services to entrepreneurship and served as an enterprise adviser to Lord Cameron in 2010. However, a judge described her as a 'selfish and untrustworthy person' after she failed to attend court, citing conjunctivitis and lack of Covid vaccination as reasons.
She is one of only two women on the forfeiture list, alongside former Post Office chief Paula Vennells, who lost her CBE over the Horizon IT scandal. Meyer's honour was formally revoked in August 2023.
