David Seaman, the former England and Arsenal goalkeeper, has partnered with Motorway, the UK's largest car selling platform, to offer fans the chance to win a pair of custom driving gloves. The limited-edition gloves combine leather driving-glove construction with goalkeeping-inspired grip technology, designed to be useful both behind the wheel and on the pitch.
Seaman's Goalkeeping Instincts Still Alive
In a social media film, Seaman, 62, showcases his enduring reflexes and commanding presence, barking orders and reacting instinctively in everyday situations. The bespoke D(r)iving Gloves are intended to help him channel those instincts while driving his beloved fishing van. The gloves feature a wrist strap made from seatbelt fabric and 40 breathable air holes, symbolizing Seaman's 40 international clean sheets for England.
Limited-Edition Gloves Signed by the Legend
Football fans have the opportunity to win the signed, limited-edition gloves. Speaking to Daily Star Sport, Seaman said: "When Motorway approached me, I wanted to do it because it's a bit of fun. The idea of designing a pair of gloves that are just as good behind the wheel as they are in goal really appealed to me." He added: "I put them through their paces during the photoshoot. It was great fun catching a football again, which I haven't done for quite a while, and thankfully the ball was still sticking. Then I drove my fishing van home afterwards, so it was a good day all round!"
A Fun Collaboration
Seaman, known for his iconic penalty save against Scotland in Euro 96 and his successful career at Arsenal, admitted that the opportunity to work with gloves again was a key factor. "Mainly the fact it was about gloves. I quite liked wearing gloves - or at least I used to - and when they came up with the idea of combining goalkeeping gloves with driving gloves, I thought it was brilliant. I enjoy things that are a bit of fun, and this was exactly that!"
