Czech Republic FA president David Trunda has voiced support for Gianni Infantino's controversial proposal to sell stakes in the World Cup's commercial rights. The plan involves setting up a separate $20bn (£15.5bn) company to run FIFA competitions, with 20% of that offered to external investors.
UEFA opposition
The idea has drawn criticism from leading figures and governing bodies in football, including UEFA, which could subsequently struggle to boycott future events. However, Trunda, who assumed his role last year, has backed the initiative.
Speaking to Sky News, Trunda said: "I can see the pragmatic benefits for Czech football from working in close co-operation with [FIFA president] Gianni Infantino and his team. Of course we need more details, but my personal point of view is that I can see the positive impact of FIFA's intentions."
