Toby Collyer's future at Manchester United will be decided later in the summer transfer window, with the club expected to finalise a third midfield signing before making a call on the academy graduate.
Difficult Season Marred by Injuries
The 22-year-old endured a challenging 2025/26 campaign after suffering from bad luck with injuries. He made 12 appearances for West Bromwich Albion before returning to Carrington for treatment on an issue. In January, he joined Hull City and earned man of the match on his first start against Coventry City, but an ankle injury sustained in training limited him to just five appearances for the Tigers.
United's Midfield Reinforcements
United confirmed the signing of Chelsea's Andrey Santos on Monday and are in advanced talks with Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans. The Reds plan to make a third midfield signing, and once that deal is agreed, Collyer's future will be addressed.
Collyer's Ambitions and Options
Collyer is keen to play for United but is open to leaving the club to establish himself as a regular Premier League player. He recently visited a specialist in Spain to receive expert counsel ahead of an important season in his career. Sources close to Collyer believe he will thrive with a clear run of games.
MEN Sport understands that a loan is the most likely option for Collyer, but a permanent exit has not been ruled out. In the meantime, Collyer will have the opportunity to impress manager Michael Carrick in pre-season. United's first pre-season friendly is on Saturday against Wrexham in Helsinki.
