Trevoh Chalobah's preferred destination is Inter Milan, according to Fabrizio Romano, as Chelsea continue to push the England World Cup defender towards an exit. The 26-year-old has been told he is free to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, and the Blues have offered him to Premier League rivals Crystal Palace among four defenders.
Chalobah's preference and Chelsea's stance
Chalobah, who has made 151 appearances for Chelsea since his debut in 2021, is currently with the England squad at the World Cup. He received a late call-up to Thomas Tuchel's squad and is preparing for the round of 16 clash against Mexico. Despite his international commitments, his agents are in Milan to discuss personal terms with Inter, per Romano. Chelsea have rejected a £22m bid from Como, holding out for £35m, a price that is said to be too steep for the Serie A side.
Chelsea offer to Crystal Palace
talkSPORT reported that Chelsea have offered Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo, Axel Disasi, and Benoit Badiashile to Crystal Palace. The Eagles are interested in a swap deal involving their star centre-back Maxence Lacroix, whom Xabi Alonso wants to sign. Chalobah spent the first half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Selhurst Park, impressing under then-manager Oliver Glasner, who expressed interest in a permanent deal. Palace are preparing for their first Europa League campaign and need defensive reinforcements.
However, it is unclear whether Adarabioyo, Disasi, or Badiashile would appeal to Palace, who are also looking at former Leeds United and England U21 star Charlie Cresswell as a potential replacement for Lacroix.
World Cup role and injury crisis
Chalobah has not yet played at the 2026 World Cup but could feature against Mexico due to an injury crisis at right-back. Reece James, Jarrell Quansah, and Declan Rice are doubts, while Djed Spence struggled in the round of 32 win over DR Congo. Chalobah has experience at right-back and may be drafted in at centre-back, with Ezri Konsa shifting to full-back.
