Celtic's £3m Target Camilo Duran Ready for Move, Mentor Says

Celtic have reportedly seen an initial offer of £1.7 million for Qarabag winger Camilo Duran knocked back, with the Azerbaijani club holding out for a fee closer to £3 million. The Colombian forward, who scored five goals in the Champions League last season, has attracted significant interest from the Scottish champions.

Mentor Backs Duran for Big Move

Sebastian Botero, Duran's former coach at Independiente Medellin, has revealed the 24-year-old is primed to make the leap to a bigger club. Botero described Duran as a "rebel" who thrives under pressure, stating: "If logic says everything is against him, he does everything in his power to turn the situation in his favour."

Botero also detailed Duran's journey from a tough upbringing in Colombia to his current success. "He was born in a tough area and had to grow up quickly. He was a hot-headed, mischievous kid who liked to fight with everyone, but his life changed when he joined a football academy," Botero said.

Duran's Career Path

Duran began his career at Independiente Medellin before a loan spell at Brazilian giants Flamengo. A subsequent injury prevented a permanent move, leading him to Portugal, where he played for three second-tier clubs. He then moved to Qarabag, where he has made a huge impression, becoming one of the most talked-about forwards in Europe.

Botero added: "Camilo has improved massively and he is now one of the most talked-about forward players in Europe. He can keep improving and become one of the most progressive players in Europe and earn a nice move to a bigger club."

Celtic Also Eye Michael Parker

Meanwhile, Celtic are also linked with Orgryte defender Michael Parker. The 21-year-old former West Brom stopper moved to Swedish football earlier this year and is valued at £1.5 million. Orgryte sports director Pontus Farnerud confirmed interest but refused to comment on any offers. "There is interest in Michael. Clubs have contacted me. He has a strong profile and possesses qualities that make him attract interest," Farnerud said.

Celtic are yet to make a signing in the summer transfer window, though Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is close to returning. The club's pursuit of Duran and Parker signals an intent to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.
