Celtic fans have patiently waited for their club to join a summer packed with transfer drama. Now, just six days before their first friendly against Shelbourne, the Premiership champions may finally make moves. Manager Martin O'Neill has stressed the need for quality reinforcements amid expected challenges from Rangers and Hearts.
Nobel Mendy: Premier League Bound
Rayo Vallecano defender Nobel Mendy, who had a failed move to Rangers last summer due to medical issues, is now a target for English Premier League clubs. Despite links to Celtic, sources close to the player deny any offer from the Scottish side, stating he has "better options in the Premier League." Celtic have not contacted Rayo Vallecano regarding Mendy.
Gvidas Gineitis: Open to Exit
Torino midfielder Gvidas Gineitis is on Celtic's watchlist as a potential replacement for Arne Engels. The 22-year-old Lithuanian international's agent, Dmitry Vinokurov, said: "Gvidas is motivated by the opportunity to work with a new coach... He is very ambitious, always looking to improve." Vinokurov added that Torino values Gineitis but would evaluate any interesting offers.
Dinko Horkas: No Celtic Move
Las Palmas goalkeeper Dinko Horkas, valued at £6 million, will not be signing for Celtic. Club president Miguel Angel Ramírez stated: "We haven't received any official offers... those clubs have got off to a bad start with us, because they're negotiating with him without negotiating with us." Celtic are not among the interested parties.
Kelechi Iheanacho: Global Interest
Former Celtic hero Kelechi Iheanacho, 29, is attracting interest from Bursaspor and Brazilian club Vasco De Gama. The Nigerian international's 12-month contract extension has not been triggered, leaving him available. Iheanacho thrived as an impact sub under O'Neill, who challenged him to improve his fitness.
