However, a complication arises as LA Galaxy hold the discovery rights to negotiate with the player and have already submitted several contract proposals. MLS rules grant clubs priority in signing certain players to prevent intra-league competition for high-profile targets.
Neither LA Galaxy nor Inter Miami currently have a designated player slot available to accommodate Casemiro, whose salary would need to fall under $2m (£1.48m) unless a slot becomes free. Lionel Messi occupies one of Inter Miami's three designated player spots. Previous disputes over discovery rights have resulted in compensation payments between clubs.
Casemiro may feature in United's final match at Brighton this weekend, but his farewell at Old Trafford was marked by an emotional social media post thanking the club and fans.
