Independent Thai restaurant Tuk Tuk, located on Crwys Road in Cardiff, has been shortlisted for the 2026 Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year Award. It is the only Welsh restaurant among the nominees, competing against other small and independent eateries across the UK.
Recognition for a Small Independent
Tuk Tuk is known for its fresh, modern take on Thai cuisine, offering classics such as pad Thai and traditional Thai curries, alongside other Thai-inspired dishes. The restaurant also serves homemade desserts including mango coconut cheesecake and banana spring rolls, which have become customer favourites.
The Uber Eats Awards celebrate outstanding local food businesses, and the winner will receive £100,000 to invest in their restaurant. Customers can view the full shortlist and cast their vote at ubereatsawards.com.
Owner's Call for Support
Speaking about the nomination, owner Sean Tao said: "As a small independent restaurant recognition like this means everything to us. We'd like to thank every customer who has supported us – whether they've dined with us, ordered a takeaway or nominated us for the awards."
Tao added: "We're now asking everyone to get behind us by voting. It would be amazing to bring this award home to Cardiff and to Wales."
A Boost for Cardiff's Food Scene
Tuk Tuk's shortlisting highlights the strength of Cardiff's independent dining scene. The restaurant has become a favourite with both diners and takeaway customers, and a win would bring significant investment to the business.
