Café Filto, hailed as Newcastle's best brunch spot and a favorite among Newcastle United players and their partners, will open its third location at the Metrocentre this week. The café launches in the shopping centre's new Crescent zone on July 1, 2026, becoming the first business to operate in that area.
Rapid Success in Sandyford and Fenwick
Filto first opened in Sandyford in 2025, taking over the site formerly occupied by Thali Tray and its sister restaurant Tadka. Within months, it became one of the busiest venues in the suburb, which was recently named one of the best UK suburbs for under-35s. Word-of-mouth success led to queues for tables, with customers flocking for its all-day menu, particularly the popular steak and eggs dish and signature iced lattes and matcha.
Following its Sandyford triumph, Filto expanded into Newcastle city centre department store Fenwick, where it also proved highly popular.
Metrocentre Launch
The new Café Filto at the Metrocentre is located in the Precinct, near the Village and Next. The announcement on social media last week generated huge excitement, with one shopper replying, 'I've been wanting one of these' and another writing, 'omg just in time for my birthday!! Matcha!!'
The café is set to become a key attraction in the Metrocentre's ongoing development, offering its signature dishes and drinks to shoppers and visitors.
