A bride has been heavily criticized after presenting her bridal party with a list of strict wedding day rules, including a £3,700 contribution from each member and a ban on eating after 7am. The cousin of the bride, who was asked to be a bridesmaid, shared her disbelief on social media, later posted on Reddit, questioning whether the demands were serious.
Bridesmaid shocked by list of demands
The cousin explained that she initially thought the list was a joke but soon realized the bride was completely serious. She wrote: "I agreed to be a bridesmaid for my cousin's wedding because I love her and wanted to be there to support her on such a special day. But after seeing these bridal party rules, I honestly have to ask... is this actually serious?"
She added: "Being part of a bridal party should be about celebrating the bride, making memories and supporting each other - not feeling like you've signed up to a strict contract full of rules that take all the fun out of the day."
£3,700 contribution and strict rules
The biggest shock came when the bride requested each bridesmaid to contribute $5,000 (£3,700) towards the wedding, covering expenses such as dresses, shoes, hair, and makeup. Alongside the hefty cost, she introduced a series of strict rules for the wedding day, including a ban on food after 7am, no alcohol, and no dancing during the reception.
The full list of rules included: no food after 7am on the wedding day; once hair and makeup are finished, no food until celebrations end; no alcohol throughout the wedding day; no dancing during the reception; plus-ones only allowed if they are a spouse or fiancé; no requests to bring children; all tattoos must be covered; and hair color must remain natural - brown or black only.
Social media reacts
The cousin expressed her shock, saying: "A wedding is meant to be a celebration, not something where everyone is worried about breaking rules or doing the wrong thing. I'm happy to stand beside my cousin and support her, but I can't pretend I'm not shocked by how serious and controlling some of these expectations feel."
Social media users were equally stunned. One user commented: "Wow, this is genuinely insane to expect from a wedding party." Another said: "Not being able to eat all day is unacceptable." A third added: "I would be so grumpy all day!"
