True crime enthusiasts are in for disappointment as the BBC's acclaimed documentary series Murder 24/7 will not air tonight, with its usual slot replaced by the European Athletics Championships: Birmingham 2026.
Murder 24/7 returned to BBC One last month, offering an immersive look at real-life murder investigations across the UK. Focusing on West Mercia Police, the third series proved a hit, leaving viewers "horrified" by the chilling cases depicted.
The show follows detectives working around the clock, from the initial 999 call through to conviction, revealing harrowing truths along the way. Fans had dubbed it "better than 24 Hours in Police Custody," eagerly awaiting new episodes at 9pm on BBC One every Tuesday and Wednesday.

Instead of Murder 24/7, BBC One will air the European Athletics Championships from 8pm to 10pm tonight. The series will not return next week either, as series three has concluded after six episodes, matching series two's length, while the debut series had five.
It remains uncertain whether the show will be renewed, but viewers can revisit all episodes on BBC iPlayer. An official synopsis reads: "In the pursuit of justice, every second counts.
