Bayern Munich chief Max Eberl has delivered a clear message to Liverpool and other potential suitors: Michael Olise is not for sale this summer. The 24-year-old French winger has enjoyed a sensational season at the Allianz Arena, scoring 19 goals and providing 29 assists to help Bayern secure the Bundesliga title. Vincent Kompany's side could still complete a treble, with a Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain and a German Cup final against Stuttgart on the horizon.
Eberl's Firm Stance
Asked by ZDF television whether Olise would be staying at Bayern, Eberl responded: "Absolutely." When pressed if that answer would remain unchanged regardless of any offer, he added: "Yes. We're not having a second to think about anything." Olise remains under contract with the German giants until 2029, having joined from Crystal Palace in 2024 for a reported £51 million.
Liverpool's Interest
Liverpool have been strongly linked with Olise as they search for a replacement for the outgoing Mohamed Salah. Former Liverpool star Steven Gerrard has urged the Reds to make a move, praising Olise's ability on both feet. Speaking on TNT Sports, Gerrard said: "When you are a full-back playing up against a winger, they normally have a weak side... The problem with him is he can go both ways, his right foot is just as strong as his left."
However, Gerrard acknowledged the difficulty of a transfer, stating: "Why would he leave Bayern? A big club, challenging for the big honours, and they are probably the strongest Bayern Munich team we have seen for a while." He added that he would love to see Olise at Liverpool, but conceded it is unlikely.
Olise's Impact at Bayern
Olise's form has been a key factor in Bayern's success this season. His 19 goals and 29 assists have made him one of the most sought-after talents in Europe, but Bayern's hierarchy is determined to keep him. With the Champions League and German Cup still to play for, Olise remains focused on delivering silverware for the Bavarian club.
Liverpool's search for a Salah replacement will continue, but they will have to look elsewhere as Eberl's comments make it clear that Olise is not leaving Munich this summer.
