Arsenal are continuing their pursuit of Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr in what could be a blockbuster transfer. The Brazil international and the Spanish giants are at odds over a contract renewal, with the 26-year-old entering the final 12 months of his deal. Vinicius is said to be open to leaving Spain as he "wants to feel loved," and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is keen to bring him to North London.
The Gunners have expressed interest to Real's hierarchy, potentially making this the summer's biggest saga. However, Arteta must also offload players to balance the books after a spending spree last summer that helped Arsenal win the Premier League.
Vinicius Jr Impasse
According to the Mirror, Vinicius Jr and Real Madrid face an additional impasse beyond stalled contract talks. The winger will reportedly not rejoin club training this week as his future remains uncertain. His agents are attempting to revive extension discussions with the La Liga champions.
Vinicius is reportedly seeking the same £25m wages as Kylian Mbappe at the Bernabeu. He currently earns between £12m and £15m at Real. For Arsenal to sign him, they would likely need to break their club transfer record and make him the top earner.
Fabio Vieira Price Tag Problem
Arsenal are demanding at least £15m for midfielder Fabio Vieira, who wants to return to Hamburg. The Bundesliga side is only willing to pay around £8.5m. Sky Sports reports that while Arsenal remain firm, Vieira is entering the final year of his contract, which could benefit Hamburg.
Hamburg chief Eric Huwer said: "We fell in love with Fábio a little bit last year. But we are not going to be unreasonable. If Arsenal say yes, we look forward to him. If they say no, we look forward to someone else."
