Fifteen Everton players will technically leave the club on June 30 as their contracts expire, but several could soon return. The most high-profile departure is club captain Seamus Coleman, who ended a 17-year stint at Everton. Manager David Moyes has expressed a desire to keep Coleman at the club in a behind-the-scenes role, and a return seems likely.
Loanees with potential return
Everton are in talks with Chelsea over a permanent deal for Tyrique George, who impressed during his loan spell. The club has a desire to keep him if terms can be agreed. Meanwhile, Jack Grealish's loan from Manchester City will not be made permanent, but Everton expect to negotiate another loan, partly dependent on his recovery from a stress fracture. Grealish continued his rehabilitation with Everton after the season ended, indicating his preference to stay.
Idrissa Gueye and academy departures
Idrissa Gueye's contract expires while he is at the World Cup with Senegal. Everton want to reduce his role and are in talks with his representatives about a new deal with reduced responsibilities. Several academy players are also leaving, including Roman Dixon, Reece Welch, and Tyler Onyango, who all featured for the first team. Welch posted a goodbye on Instagram, stating: "I’ve been proud to call this club home and it has been a massive part of my life." Frankie Okoronkwo, who joined for £1m, has already moved to Doncaster Rovers. Other departing Under-21s include Jacob Beaumont-Clark, Kingsford Boakye, and Bradley Moonan, while Under-18s Goodness Gospel-Eze, Louis Poland, Charlie Stewart, Kean Wren, and Ademide Akarakiri (who turned down a contract) also leave. Everton have pledged ongoing support for all players moving on.
