Met Office weather maps currently show consistent rain continuing for a few hours, letting up shortly after 6pm when the heavy rain appears to stop for a while. For a few hours, between around 6pm and 9pm, the showers are set to ease, but then maps show rain continuing again from around 9pm in Greater Manchester.
Pride parade and village party
Manchester Village Pride 2026 is taking place in the city centre today, after celebrations got underway on Friday, August 28. The parade is taking place from 12pm, and the party will continue in the village until the late hours.
This year's LGBTQ+ event was created following the voluntary liquidation of the company behind Manchester Pride last year. A new Community Interest Company (CIC) was founded, with a new focus on the community and with the support of the many venues and bars that make up the Gay Village.
Sunday forecast
Sunday is forecast to be slightly drier in the morning and early afternoon, but showers will begin again from around 2pm.
The August Bank Holiday weekend has gotten off to a very wet start, with festivals and other major events taking place all over the UK. This follows an uncharacteristically dry and hot summer, with record-breaking heatwaves and droughts.
