The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for mist and fog across parts of the UK, as many people woke to foggy conditions on Saturday, November 7. The warning, which came into effect at 9pm on Friday, November 6, remains in place until 11am today.
Warning areas and possible disruption
The yellow warning covers the East Midlands, East of England, London and South East England, and the West Midlands. According to the Met Office, slower journey times and delays to bus and train services are possible, along with a chance of delays and cancellations to flights.
Although the warning does not cover Merseyside, the region woke up to foggy conditions this morning, with the Met Office forecasting mist until 9am.
Met Office statement on fog
A Met Office spokesperson said: “Clearing skies over southeast England this evening and overnight, which has already led to the development of mist and some patchy fog, is likely to allow increasingly widespread and in places dense fog to form. Visibility will fall below 100m in some places.”
“The fog will gradually lift and clear to mist and haze during Saturday morning, persisting longest where visibilities are poorest early on.”
Weekend outlook for Liverpool
As the day continues, drier conditions are expected in Liverpool, with temperatures reaching 11°C and no wet spells likely. On Sunday, the cold November weather is set to continue, though there may be a glimpse of sunshine later in the day. Monday morning is likely to bring fog and frost across Merseyside.
