Temperatures in the UK are set to rise again within days, with many areas bracing for another heatwave as thermometers could reach 29°C. The latest weather maps from WXCharts.com show temperatures soaring on Saturday, 5 September, across several regions of the country.
Hottest regions in England and Wales
England and Wales are expected to be the hottest regions, particularly the east and south-east of England, where temperatures are forecast to reach the late 20s. A list of 21 counties in England is expected to see temperatures above 25°C on 5 September, including Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Bristol, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Middlesex, Hertfordshire, Essex, Surrey, Sussex, Norfolk, Suffolk and Kent.
In contrast, Scotland and Northern Ireland are set to experience milder conditions, with highs not expected to exceed 15°C.
Changeable weather ahead
Next week's weather is expected to be changeable, with heavy rain and thunderstorms likely to hit the country. The Met Office's long-range forecast, covering the period from 30 August to 8 September, warns of an unsettled period with showers or longer spells of rain possible across many parts of the UK.
"Rainfall amounts will probably be above average for the time of year, and there is potential for some strong winds at times. Some drier and more settled interludes could develop at times, but these will likely be short-lived. Temperatures are likely to be near average, although some short-lived warm or very warm spells are possible, especially in the south," the forecast reads.
