A swan caused traffic chaos on the M8 as drivers sought to avoid the bird on the busy motorway. Vehicles were brought to a near standstill on the M8 westbound near Eurocentral around 10.30am on Wednesday after the bird hopped onto the carriageway.
Bird spotted in right-hand lane
Footage captured the animal walking across the right lane as motors dropped to a crawling pace and switched lanes. The Scottish SPCA said they had yet to receive a call of concern for the swan. It is unknown how long the bird held up traffic.
Social media reaction
Social media users were left tickled by the bird's appearance during rush hour. One person said: "They don’t care, swanning about the place." Another added: "Just a duck in disguise."
Another user said they had reported the swan to the police. Police Scotland and Amey, who are responsible for operational matters for that section of the M8, have been approached for comment.
