Ryanair has issued a warning to passengers flying this week to check in online before 9pm on Wednesday, October 7, as the airline’s website and app will be temporarily unavailable due to planned maintenance work.
The airline said its online services could be down from 21:00 UTC on Wednesday, October 7 until 01:00 UTC on Thursday, October 8. During this period, access to bookings, including check-in, will not be available.
Check-in before 9pm Wednesday
In an update on its website, Ryanair said: “Due to essential scheduled system upgrade, our website & app might be temporarily unavailable from 21:00 UTC Wed, 7 October – 01:00 UTC Thurs, 8 October. Access to bookings, including to check-in, will not be available during this period. Passengers who are due to fly during this period should check-in online and generate their digital boarding pass before 21:00 UTC Wed, 7 October.”
Under Ryanair’s rules, passengers can check in online up to 60 days before departure if they have pre-reserved a seat. If a seat is assigned randomly, check-in opens 24 hours before the flight and closes two hours before departure.
Airport check-in fees
Passengers who do not check in online could face a fee if they have to check in at the airport instead. The fee is £55 per person, £30 for flights from Spain and £40 for flights from Austria. If a passenger has checked in but cannot show their boarding pass on the app at the airport, they will receive a boarding pass free of charge.
Passengers departing from a Moroccan airport are exempt from the fees, as long as they check in online as normal. They can then collect a boarding pass free of charge at the airport check-in desk. Passengers who do not check in online up to two hours before departure may check in at the airport up to 40 minutes before departure, but they will be charged an airport check-in fee.
