Royal Mail has released an update confirming that 90 UK postcodes will experience delayed post today, including 13 areas across Wales. The delivery company has identified a number of locations affected by hold-ups as of Monday, July 27.
Royal Mail said: "We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors. In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive. We're sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding."
Affected Welsh Postcode Areas
The postcode areas in Wales facing delays include: Abergavenny DO (NP7, NP8), Barry DO (CF63), Brecon DO (LD3), Carmarthen DO (SA17, SA31, SA32, SA33), Llanrwst DO (LL24, LL25, LL26, LL27), and Penarth DO (CF64). Royal Mail's air and road network has been running to schedule over the past 24 hours.
Delivery Card Revamp
In recent days, Royal Mail announced it has revamped its delivery cards, which are left when a delivery attempt is unsuccessful. In a social media post, Royal Mail explained: "We've revitalised our Something for you delivery cards - with a fresh new look and a clever upgrade. They now come with an easy-to-scan QR code - because even the most charming handwriting deserves a digital sidekick. The new card is simpler, faster, and a more secure way to stay in control of your missed deliveries."
In a video, the delivery firm added: "This updated version includes a QR code that provides direct access to your item's location. Simply scan the QR code on the card using your mobile phone to instantly view your tracking details. You'll see a link beginning with RYML.me. Just tap the link to open your tracking page. Your unique nine-digit tracking code will already be filled in for you. Simply enter your delivery postcode to confirm access. From there, you'll be able to see the latest location of your item, including any safe place photos or neighbour delivery details. If you prefer, you can manually enter the nine-digit code on the tracking page in the Royal Mail app or on our website. If we've had to take your item back to your local delivery office, you'll be able to see who the items address to, so you can bring the correct ID when collecting. Alternatively, you can request a redelivery at a date that suits you."
