Emergency services were called to Star Trading Estate in Caerleon, Newport, at around 2.40am on 1 August after a large blaze broke out, prompting evacuations and warnings for the public to avoid the area.
Water supply affected
Some locals have reported issues with their running water, although the connection with the fire is not clear. One resident posted on social media saying they had yellow water, while another responded saying they had no water at all.
According to Welsh Water Dwr Cymru, customers may have no water or low water pressure in the area. The website states: "We expect all supplies to be fully restored by early afternoon."
Fire service response
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service is working alongside Gwent Police on the incident. A statement released by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service reads: "SEFRS is currently responding to a large industrial fire at Star Trading Estate, Caerleon, Newport.
"At 2.42am this morning, crews and a number of resources were deployed to the incident, including ten fire appliances, three water bowsers, an aerial ladder platform, and a range of specialist equipment.
"The site as been evacuated, and all persons are accounted for. Members of the public are urged to avoid the area to allow emergency services to carry out their work. Due to smoke in the vicinity, residents are also advised to keep windows and doors closed.
"SWFRS is working closely with Gwent Police and partner agencies to help ensure public safety. We thank the public for their cooperation."
