The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind, with parts of the UK expected to see gusts of up to 70mph.
Warning for North West Scotland
People in the North West of Scotland are being warned to expect periods of strong winds, with some transport disruption likely, the forecaster said. The strongest winds are expected in the Na h-Eileanan Siar and Highland areas.
Advice on emergency kits
The forecaster also urged people to prepare an emergency kit in case of power cuts. It said: "People cope better with power cuts when they have prepared for them in advance. It's easy to do; consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items."
This is a breaking news story and further updates are expected.
