The Met Office has issued its 10-day forecast for the UK, revealing that rain is expected to hit 40 counties in England and Scotland on Saturday. According to new maps from the forecaster, downpours are forecast across a wide swath of the country.
Rain expected in Scotland and northern England
The Met Office explained that over the next week or so, the chance of rain will increase across the country, particularly in northern and western areas, where high pressure remains. The maps from its 10-day forecast show showers concentrated in Scotland by 1pm on Saturday, August 8.
Elsewhere, rain is also expected in North East England, including Cumbria, Merseyside, and Lancashire. The wettest conditions will be in north western areas, while the south is expected to remain warm and sunny.
Forecast for Saturday to Monday
The Met Office forecast for Saturday to Monday warns of rain in Scotland, though other parts of the UK will remain "warm and sunny", particularly in the south. It reads: "Rain across northern Scotland through the weekend. Warm and sunny elsewhere. Turning hot in the south. Dry for most on Monday with temperatures on the very warm to hot side."
