The Met Office has forecast heavy rain to hit parts of the UK on Monday, with weather maps showing blue conditions across much of Scotland and northern England. According to the agency's forecast, rain is set to affect almost all of Scotland and parts of northern England.
Rain expected across Scotland and northern England
Pockets of Scotland may escape the downpour, but maps indicate every county will see wet conditions. The heaviest rain is expected in the far north of Scotland near Stornoway.
In England, rain is forecast to hit Cumbria and Lancashire in the north west on Monday. Flashes of orange appear on Met Office weather maps near the Lake District, suggesting this area will see the heaviest downpour.
Warm temperatures in the south
While rain will hit the north of the UK, the Met Office has also forecast warm temperatures, especially in the south. There could be highs of 25C in London and 22C in Manchester and Cardiff, the forecast shows. It will also likely reach 20C in parts of Scotland.
The Met Office's forecast for Monday states: "Warm and humid in the south with cloudy skies, although some brighter spells are possible. A dry start in the north, before heavy rain moves into Northern Ireland and Scotland."
