The Met Office has identified 26 areas across the UK that will face heavy rain on Sunday, as weather charts turn blue ahead of the weekend. An Atlantic weather front is set to move towards the country, bringing unsettled conditions to many parts.
Rain to sweep across Scotland, England and Wales
According to the forecaster, rain is expected to reach Northern Ireland during the early hours and start of Sunday before extending into western Scotland and the western fringes of England and Wales. Through the morning and afternoon, the rain will move east or northeast across much of Scotland and into northern and western parts of England and Wales.

Rainfall amounts and wind risk
The forecaster warned there is the potential for 15mm to 30mm of rain to fall fairly widely on Sunday, "with a substantial amount possibly falling within a short period". Some areas could see more than 60mm of downpours.
Netweather meteorologist Nick Finnis wrote in his latest blog: "It will likely turn increasingly windy as we go through next week, with increasing chances of rain too from Sunday, as low pressure moves in to the west and northwest of Ireland and throws weather fronts northeast across the UK."
Eastern England to see wet end to weekend
The Met Office added: "The rain will continue to move eastwards later on Sunday, eventually reaching areas that began the day dry. Some heavy outbreaks remain possible, giving eastern England a wet end to the weekend. Meanwhile, northern and western areas should become drier, apart from a few showers."
Finnis added: "The wettest and windiest conditions will tend to be experienced across western areas, while eastern areas, although will see a few spells of rain, will generally see longer drier interludes and longer spells of sunshine."
