Met Office Issues Rain Forecast for Monday with 12 Areas Facing Downpours
Met Office Forecasts Rain for Monday Across 12 UK Areas

The Met Office has warned that downpours are expected across the UK on Monday, with 12 areas identified as facing rain. In its latest update, the forecaster stated that Monday may begin damp for some, with patchy light rain and drizzle in the north. The odd light shower will push south through the morning, but the vast majority will stay dry. After a locally chilly start, conditions will warm up in strong sunshine.

Rain Affects Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Parts of England

Showers are also expected across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick explained that northerly winds will drag some cloud southwards, bringing rain across the far north of Scotland. A little bit of rain may also affect the east coast of England, but the best of the brightness is likely across southern parts of Wales and southern England, where temperatures could reach 25°C to 26°C.

Eastern Scotland and parts of north-east England will see the chance of showers, while elsewhere conditions will remain largely dry. Although the weather is not expected to be as hot as in recent weeks, sunny spells and warm temperatures are still anticipated.

12 Areas Facing Rain on Monday

The Met Office has listed the following areas expecting rain today: Caithness, Sutherland, Ross-shire, County Antrim, County Londonderry (Derry), Northumberland, County Durham, North Yorkshire, East Riding of Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk.

Longer Range Forecast: Dry Conditions Expected

High pressure throughout the week is likely to keep widespread rain at bay, according to the Met Office's longer range forecast. Much of the UK is expected to remain dry from July 23 to August 1. However, areas in the north will see patches of rain. Towards the weekend of July 26 and 27, conditions are forecast to become more unsettled, with some rain possibly spreading into southern areas, although it is likely to be lighter and more patchy.
